Q : The Original? A: Icey-Tek cool boxes were designed in Australia by a group of outdoorsmen who spotted a gap in the market. Australian summers are notoriously brutal, and nothing on the market at the time was coping with the extreme heat.
They worked with a family-run factory in Bangkok, Thailand, to develop a rotationally moulded, heavily insulated cool box — a relatively new technology at the time. We are proud to still be working with that same factory nearly 30 years later.
And yes, Icey-Tek was around before YETI — by about eight years.
Q : The Strongest? A: Our factory uses a combination of rotomoulding and hand-finishing to create a superior, incredibly rugged cool box. The hinges, latches, and plastic-welded finish help make Icey-Tek coolers some of the toughest in the world.
We are so confident in the strength of our cool boxes that we even sell seat cushions, allowing them to double as a handy extra place to sit.
Q : The Coolest? A: Commercial grade insulating foam is injected into the walls, lid and bottom of each cool box. Our thermal insulating technology will keep your contents cooler for much longer.
Q : I need a box that I can stand wine bottles upright in, which Icey-Tek should I choose? A : You'll need to choose a 35 Litre Icey-Tek and above in our CUBE range or a 70 Litre Icey-Tek and above in our LONG range of boxes
Q : I need to transport a whole pig A : A 260 Litre Icey-Tek long box is perfect
Q : Ice or gel packs? A: All our boxes love ice however for many purposes when contents need to be kept dry our Icey-Tek Gel Packs offer a perfect re-usable solution. They contain commercial gel which, when used in our boxes, enables them to stay frozen for 1-2 days.
Q : How many gel packs do I need ? A : We recommend 1 gel pack to 20L of box capacity - however that ratio can be adapted depending on how much performance you are looking for out of your box. For the ultimate cooling power use a mix of ice and gel packs. Take a look at each product page for our suggested number of Small or Large Gel Packs.
Q : I need to transport a deer, which Icey-Tek would you suggest? A : The Icey-Tek 160L long box in khaki is popular for that
Q : Can I use / transport dry ice with my Icey-Tek box? A : Yes, many Icey-Tek users across the globe use dry ice with their cool box. If you are keeping the dry ice in an Icey-Tek for a prolonged period of time we recommend lining your cooler with cardboard, hessian or styrofoam to provide extra protection to the inner liner.
Q : I am not sure what size I need A : If you are unsure about what size you need please visit this page and dip into each product where you will find diagrams, videos, photos and text to help you choose the right fit for you. In a nutshell, we tend to see boxes from 18 to 55 litres being used by families for camping and festivals whereas the 56 litre and above are utilised by caterers, fishermen and commercial uses.... these are not firm rules though so don't let us discourage you!
Q : Why should I invest in an Icey-Tek cool box ? A : These boxes are 'lifetime' purchases. Because of their quality and durability they will give you years of good use unlike a cheaper cool box which would need to be replaced frequently. Some of our original boxes from the 90s are still in regular use today.
